How I work:

One thing you’ll notice when working with me, is that while I’ve got the technical expertise and design knowledge to do my job well, I’m not going to talk over your head with tech jargon or go full designer verbose about your branding.  It’s important to me that you have the tools and resources you need to support your business.  I like to approach getting to know you and your company in a human-first basis, then we handle the tech and design.  Tech can be intimidating, and I’ve spent almost twenty years making it less so. I got my start supporting small business customers at the Apple Store during the Steve Jobs era, and that experience shaped how I work with clients to this day: patient, person-centric, practical, and genuinely excited to help.  My favorite thing is when I can hand off my solution to you, and have you feel confident about it and how it will help your business.  (Side note: you will probably get at least one tip or trick from me whether you’ve asked for it or not!)

I start by asking a lot of questions!  I like to think of each project as a painting that the client and I are creating together.  Each question answered helps me to see the picture better and paint it out for the client.  Revisions, customer feedback, and more are our ways to aligning on a design that works exactly how you want.

Not sure where to even start? That’s completely fine — most people aren’t! We’ll have a chat, figure out where things stand, and I’ll put together a clear plan for where to go next. Sometimes you just need someone to come in, poke around, and go “ah, yeah, here’s what’s going on.” I’ll look at your tools, your website, your workflows, branding, whatever’s feeling off or in need of a new fresh coat of paint, and give you honest, practical direction. You can take that plan to your own team or have me handle it. Either way, you leave the conversation actually knowing what to do next.

Retainer & On-Demand

Need someone for a few hours a month without the whole hiring process? I offer a flexible retainer customizable for your business needs.  Whether you need me for ten hours a month or twenty, we can set a monthly baseline and anything beyond that will be billed hourly.  Prefer to keep it project-by-project? Totally works too, though the rate is a little friendlier when we have an ongoing relationship!

Training, Onboarding, and Documentation

Big companies spend a lot of time and money making sure their teams know what they’re doing. Smaller businesses deserve that too! I’ve written a lot of documentation, built training resources, made walkthrough videos, and run onboarding sessions for everyone from total beginners to pretty technical users. Consistent training means fewer repeated questions, fewer mistakes, and employees who actually feel supported.

Worth asking yourself: Who trains your new employees — and is that process the same every time?

A few questions worth sitting with…

  • Can people find you on Google — or through AI search tools? Search has changed a lot lately and it’s worth making sure you’re keeping up.
  • When did you last update your website? If you’re not sure, your customers may have already noticed.
  • Do you know what traffic your site is actually getting? It’s easier to check than most people think!

Can an aging population read your site comfortably? Small businesses are increasingly facing legal action over inaccessible websites — it’s a quick thing to look at and worth knowing.
